^34 (A)O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the city that ^(B)kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to it! ^(C)How often would I have ^(D)gathered ^(E)your children together ^(F)as a hen gathers her brood ^(G)under her wings, and ^(H)you would not! ³⁵ Behold, ^(I)your house is forsaken. And I tell you, you will not see me until you say, ^(J)‘Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!’”

²⁸ But turning to them Jesus said, “Daughters of Jerusalem, do not weep for me, but weep for yourselves and for your children. ²⁹ For behold, ^(A)the days are coming when they will say, ^(B)‘Blessed are the barren and the wombs that never bore and the breasts that never nursed!’ ^30 (C)Then they will begin to say to the mountains, ‘Fall on us’, and to the hills, ‘Cover us.’ ³¹ For ^(D)if they do these things when ^(E)the wood is green, what will happen ^(F)when it is dry?”
