⁴⁸ Therefore, you are witnesses^(A) that you approve^[a](B) the deeds of your fathers, for they killed them, and you build their monuments.^[b]

8 Saul agreed with putting him to death.

On that day a severe persecution broke out against the church in Jerusalem, and all except the apostles were scattered throughout the land of Judea and Samaria.^(A)

²⁰ And when the blood of Your witness Stephen was being shed, I was standing by and approving,^[a] and I guarded the clothes of those who killed him.’^(A)
