43 “Woe betide you Pharisees! You love the chief seats in the synagogues and greetings in the market-places.
44 “Woe betide you! You are like hidden tombs, and people walk over them without knowing it.”
45 At this, one of the legal experts spoke up. “Teacher,” he said, “when you say this you’re insulting us too!”

43 “Woe to you Pharisees, because you love the most important seats in the synagogues and respectful greetings in the marketplaces.(A)
44 “Woe to you, because you are like unmarked graves,(B) which people walk over without knowing it.”
45 One of the experts in the law(C) answered him, “Teacher, when you say these things, you insult us also.”
