41 Purity is best demonstrated by generosity.
42 “But woe to you Pharisees! For though you are careful to tithe even the smallest part of your income, you completely forget about justice and the love of God. You should tithe, yes, but you should not leave these other things undone.
43 “Woe to you Pharisees! For how you love the seats of honor in the synagogues and the respectful greetings from everyone as you walk through the markets!

41 But now as for what is inside you—be generous to the poor,(A) and everything will be clean for you.(B)
42 “Woe to you Pharisees, because you give God a tenth(C) of your mint, rue and all other kinds of garden herbs, but you neglect justice and the love of God.(D) You should have practiced the latter without leaving the former undone.(E)
43 “Woe to you Pharisees, because you love the most important seats in the synagogues and respectful greetings in the marketplaces.(F)
