78 Because of the tender mercy of our God,
his light[a] from on high has visited us,
79 to shine on those who sit in darkness and in death’s shadow,
and to guide our feet into the way of peace.”
80 Now the child continued to grow and to become spiritually strong.[b] He lived in the wilderness until the day he appeared in Israel.

78 because of the tender mercy of our God,
by which the rising sun(A) will come to us from heaven
79 to shine on those living in darkness
and in the shadow of death,(B)
to guide our feet into the path of peace.”(C)
80 And the child grew and became strong in spirit[a];(D) and he lived in the wilderness until he appeared publicly to Israel.
