¹⁵ For he will be great in the sight of the Lord and will never drink wine or beer.^(A) He will be filled with the Holy Spirit^(B) while still in his mother’s womb.^(C)

³⁵ The angel replied to her, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you,^(A) and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. Therefore, the holy one to be born will be called the Son of God.^(B)

Simeon’s Prophetic Praise

²⁵ There was a man in Jerusalem whose name was Simeon. This man was righteous and devout,^(A) looking forward to Israel’s consolation,^(B) and the Holy Spirit was on him. ²⁶ It had been revealed to him by the Holy Spirit^(C) that he would not see death before he saw the Lord’s Messiah.^(D)

²² and the Holy Spirit descended on him in a physical appearance like a dove. And a voice came from heaven: “You are my beloved Son; with you I am well-pleased.”^(A)
