⁹ “‘If a priest’s daughter defiles herself by becoming a prostitute, she disgraces her father; she must be burned in the fire.^(A)

³⁹ So Eleazar the priest^(A) collected the bronze censers brought by those who had been burned to death,^(B) and he had them hammered out to overlay the altar,

¹⁵ On the fourth^[a] day, they said to Samson’s wife, “Coax^(A) your husband into explaining the riddle for us, or we will burn you and your father’s household to death.^(B) Did you invite us here to steal our property?”

⁶ When the Philistines asked, “Who did this?” they were told, “Samson, the Timnite’s son-in-law, because his wife was given to his companion.^(A)”

So the Philistines went up and burned her^(B) and her father to death.^(C)
