³ Then say to the Israelites: ‘Take a male goat^(A) for a sin offering,^(B) a calf^(C) and a lamb^(D)—both a year old and without defect—for a burnt offering,

⁷ Moses said to Aaron, “Come to the altar and sacrifice your sin offering and your burnt offering and make atonement for yourself and the people;^(A) sacrifice the offering that is for the people and make atonement for them, as the Lord has commanded.^(B)”

¹⁷ For this reason he had to be made like them,^[a](A) fully human in every way, in order that he might become a merciful^(B) and faithful high priest^(C) in service to God,^(D) and that he might make atonement for the sins of the people.^(E)

³ This is why he has to offer sacrifices for his own sins, as well as for the sins of the people.^(A)
