¹⁶ then I will do this to you: I will bring on you sudden terror, wasting diseases and fever^(A) that will destroy your sight and sap your strength.^(B) You will plant seed in vain, because your enemies will eat it.^(C)

²¹ “‘If you remain hostile^(A) toward me and refuse to listen to me, I will multiply your afflictions seven times over,^(B) as your sins deserve.

²⁵ And I will bring the sword^(A) on you to avenge^(B) the breaking of the covenant. When you withdraw into your cities, I will send a plague^(C) among you, and you will be given into enemy hands.

²¹ “For this is what the Sovereign Lord says: How much worse will it be when I send against Jerusalem my four dreadful judgments^(A)—sword^(B) and famine^(C) and wild beasts and plague^(D)—to kill its men and their animals!^(E)
