Judges 9:44-46

44 Then Abimelech and the [a]company who was with him rushed forward and stood in the entrance of the city gate; but the other two [b]companies rushed upon all who were in the field and struck them down. 45 So Abimelech fought against the city all that day, and he captured the city and killed the people who were in it; then he (A)tore the city down and sowed it with salt.
46 Then all the lords of the tower of Shechem heard of it, and they entered the inner chamber of the [c]temple of (B)El-berith.

New International Version
44 Abimelek and the companies with him rushed forward to a position at the entrance of the city gate. Then two companies attacked those in the fields and struck them down. 45 All that day Abimelek pressed his attack against the city until he had captured it and killed its people. Then he destroyed the city(A) and scattered salt(B) over it.
46 On hearing this, the citizens in the tower of Shechem went into the stronghold of the temple(C) of El-Berith.
