3 For whenever Israel had sown their seed, the Midianites and the Amalekites and the people of the east came up against them.
4 They would encamp against them and destroy the crops as far as Gaza and leave no nourishment for Israel, and no ox or sheep or donkey.
5 For they came up with their cattle and their tents, and they came like locusts for multitude; both they and their camels could not be counted. So they wasted the land as they entered it.

New International Version
3 Whenever the Israelites planted their crops, the Midianites, Amalekites(A) and other eastern peoples(B) invaded the country. 4 They camped on the land and ruined the crops(C) all the way to Gaza(D) and did not spare a living thing for Israel, neither sheep nor cattle nor donkeys. 5 They came up with their livestock and their tents like swarms of locusts.(E) It was impossible to count them or their camels;(F) they invaded the land to ravage it.
