Thus the people of Isra’el did what was evil from Adonai’s perspective, forgot Adonai their God, and served the ba‘alim and asherim. Therefore the anger of Adonai blazed against Isra’el, and he gave them over into the hands of Kushan-Rish‘atayim king of Aram-Naharayim; and the people of Isra’el served Kushan-Rish‘atayim eight years. But when the people of Isra’el cried out to Adonai, Adonai raised up a savior for the people of Isra’el; and he rescued them; this was ‘Otni’el, the son of Kalev’s younger brother K’naz.

Othniel

The Israelites did evil in the eyes of the Lord; they forgot the Lord(A) their God and served the Baals and the Asherahs.(B) The anger of the Lord burned against Israel so that he sold(C) them into the hands of Cushan-Rishathaim(D) king of Aram Naharaim,[a](E) to whom the Israelites were subject for eight years. But when they cried out(F) to the Lord, he raised up for them a deliverer,(G) Othniel(H) son of Kenaz, Caleb’s younger brother, who saved them.
