⁷^(A)And the people of Israel did what was evil in the sight of the Lord. They forgot the Lord their God and served the Baals and ^(B)the Asheroth.

New International Version

⁷The Israelites did evil in the eyes of the Lord; they forgot the Lord^(A) their God and served the Baals and the Asherahs.^(B)

²¹“You shall not plant any tree as ^(A)an Asherah beside the altar of the Lord your God that you shall make.

²¹Do not set up any wooden Asherah pole^(A) beside the altar you build to the Lord your God,^(B)
