21 That first day the warriors of Benjamin came out of Gibeah and won a great victory, striking down 22,000 warriors of Israel.

23 The people of Israel presented themselves before the Eternal and wept until evening came. They laid before Him the question:

Israelites: Should we go back into battle tomorrow against our kin, the Benjaminites?

Eternal One: Yes. Go back into battle.

22 The warriors of Israel took courage and drew up their battle lines where they had been at the beginning of the fight on the first day.[a]

21 The Benjamites came out of Gibeah and cut down twenty-two thousand Israelites(A) on the battlefield that day. 22 But the Israelites encouraged one another and again took up their positions where they had stationed themselves the first day. 23 The Israelites went up and wept before the Lord(B) until evening,(C) and they inquired of the Lord.(D) They said, “Shall we go up again to fight(E) against the Benjamites, our fellow Israelites?”

The Lord answered, “Go up against them.”
