They said to him, “Please find out from God if our journey will be successful.”

The priest told them, “Go in peace. The Lord approves of your journey.”

The five men left there and came to the city of Laish. They saw that the people there lived without a care. These people were like the people of Sidon. They were peaceful and secure. There was no one around who threatened to take away their property by force. They were far from the people of Sidon and totally independent.

Then they said to him, “Please inquire of God(A) to learn whether our journey will be successful.”

The priest answered them, “Go in peace(B). Your journey has the Lord’s approval.”

So the five men(C) left and came to Laish,(D) where they saw that the people were living in safety, like the Sidonians, at peace and secure.(E) And since their land lacked nothing, they were prosperous.[a] Also, they lived a long way from the Sidonians(F) and had no relationship with anyone else.[b]
