⁴So Samson went and caught 300 foxes and took torches. And he turned them tail to tail and put a torch between each pair of tails.

New International Version

⁴So he went out and caught three hundred foxes^(A) and tied them tail to tail in pairs. He then fastened a torch^(B) to every pair of tails,

¹⁷When the sun had gone down and it was dark, behold, a smoking fire pot and a flaming torch passed between these pieces.

¹⁷When the sun had set and darkness had fallen, a smoking firepot with a blazing torch^(A) appeared and passed between the pieces.^(B)
