Jephthah Rejects Ammonite Claims

¹² Jephthah sent messengers to the king of the Ammonites, saying, “What do you have against me that you have come to fight against me in my land?”

¹⁰ The king replied, “Sons of Zeruiah, do we agree on anything?^(A) He curses^(B) me this way because the Lord^[a] told him, ‘Curse David!’ Therefore, who can say, ‘Why did you do that?’”

²⁴ “What do You have to do with us,^[a] Jesus—Nazarene?^(A) Have You come to destroy^(B) us? I know who You are—the Holy^(C) One of God!”^(D)

³⁴ “Leave us alone!^[a] What do You have to do with us,^[b] Jesus—Nazarene? Have You come to destroy us? I know who You are—the Holy One of God!”

⁴ “What has this concern of yours to do with Me,^[a](A) woman?”^(B) Jesus asked. “My hour^[b] has not yet come.”
