33 ¶ Neither did Naphtali drive out the inhabitants of Beth Shemesh, nor the inhabitants of Beth Anath, but dwelt among the Canaanites the inhabitants of the land: nevertheless the inhabitants of Beth Shemesh, and of Beth Anath became tributaries unto them.
34 And the Amorites [a]drove the children of Dan into the mountain: so that they suffered them not to come down to the valley.
35 And the Amorites [b]dwelt still in mount Heres in Aijalon, and in Shaalbim, and when the [c]hand of Joseph’s family prevailed, they became tributaries:

New International Version
33 Neither did Naphtali drive out those living in Beth Shemesh(A) or Beth Anath(B); but the Naphtalites too lived among the Canaanite inhabitants of the land, and those living in Beth Shemesh and Beth Anath became forced laborers for them. 34 The Amorites(C) confined the Danites(D) to the hill country, not allowing them to come down into the plain.(E) 35 And the Amorites were determined also to hold out in Mount Heres,(F) Aijalon(G) and Shaalbim,(H) but when the power of the tribes of Joseph increased, they too were pressed into forced labor.
