1 Joshua died. Then the people of Israel prayed to the Lord. They said, “Who will be first to go and fight for us against the Canaanite people?”

²The Lord said to them, “The tribe of Judah will go. I have given them the power to take this land.”

1 After the death^(B) of Joshua, the Israelites asked the Lord, “Who of us is to go up first^(C) to fight against the Canaanites?^(D)”

²The Lord answered, “Judah^(E) shall go up; I have given the land into their hands.^(F)”
