16 So Samson’s bride cried on his shoulder[a] and said, “You must[b] hate me; you do not love me! You told the young men[c] a riddle, but you have not told me the solution.” He said to her, “Look, I have not even told my father or mother. Do you really expect me to tell you?”[d]

16 Then Samson’s wife threw herself on him, sobbing, “You hate me! You don’t really love me.(A) You’ve given my people a riddle, but you haven’t told me the answer.”
“I haven’t even explained it to my father or mother,” he replied, “so why should I explain it to you?”
