Ginbubuan ni Maria sang Pahamot si Jesus(A)

12 Karon, sang anom na lang ka adlaw bag-o mag-abot ang piesta, nagkadto si Jesus sa Betania, sa lugar ni Lazarus nga iya ginbanhaw. Nagpreparar sila sing panihapon para kay Jesus. Si Lazarus isa sa mga kaupod ni Jesus nga nagakaon sa lamisa. Si Marta amo ang nagaserbi. Si Maria iya nagkuha sing mga tunga sa litro nga malahalon nga pahamot. Siya amo ang nagauyat sang ila kuwarta kag permi niya ini ginakuhaan. Pero nagsiling si Jesus, “Pabay-i lang siya! Ipatago lang sa iya ang nabilin nga pahamot agod itigana sa akon lubong.[c] Ang mga imol permi ninyo makaupod, pero ako indi ninyo permi makaupod.”

Ang Plano nga Patyon si Lazarus

Madamo nga mga Judio ang nakabalita nga didto si Jesus sa Betania, gani nagkadto sila didto. Nagkadto sila indi lang tungod kay Jesus, kundi gusto man nila nga makita si Lazarus nga iya ginbanhaw. 10 Gani ginplano sang mga manugdumala nga mga pari nga patyon man si Lazarus, 11 kay tungod sa iya, madamo na nga mga Judio ang nagbiya sa ila kag nagtuo kay Jesus.

Ang Madinalag-on nga Pagsulod ni Jesus sa Jerusalem(B)

12 Sang madason nga adlaw, nabalitaan sang madamo nga mga tawo nga nag-alabot sa pagpamiesta nga si Jesus nagapakadto na sa Jerusalem. 13 Gani nagkuha sila sang mga dahon sang palma kag ginsugata nila si Jesus nga nagasinggit, “Dayawon ta ang Dios! Ginapakamaayo sang Ginoo ang iya pinadala![d] [e] Ginapakamaayo niya ang Hari sang Israel!” 14 Nakakita si Jesus sang isa ka bataon pa nga asno kag amo ato ang iya ginsakyan. Sa iya ginhimo nga ato natuman ang ginsiling sang Dios sa Kasulatan nga nagasiling:

15 “Kamo nga mga pumuluyo sang Zion,[f]
indi kamo magkahadlok.
Pamati kamo! Nagaabot na ang inyo hari,
nga nagasakay sa tinday nga asno.”[g]

16 Sadto nga tiyempo, ang mga sumulunod ni Jesus wala pa makaintiendi kon ano ang kahulugan sang mga nagakalatabo nga ato. Pero pagkatapos nga si Jesus nakabalik na sa langit, amo pa lang nila napinsaran nga ang ginhimo sang sadto nga mga tawo amo gid gali ang nakasulat sa Kasulatan.

17 Madamo nga mga tawo ang nakakita sang pagtawag kag pagbanhaw ni Jesus kay Lazarus halin sa iya lulubngan. Kag ini nga mga tawo nagpamalita sa natabo. 18 Gani madamo nga mga tawo ang nagsugata kay Jesus, tungod kay nabalitaan nila ato nga milagro nga iya ginhimo. 19 Gani naghambalanay ang mga Pariseo, “Ti tan-awa ninyo, nagasunod na sa iya ang tanan nga tawo. Wala na gid kita sing may mahimo!”

May mga Griego nga Nagpangita kay Jesus

20 May mga Griego man nga nag-alabot sa Jerusalem agod magpamiesta kag magsimba sa Dios. 21 Nagkadto sila kay Felipe nga taga-Betsaida nga sakop sang Galilea. Nagsiling ang mga Griego, “Gusto namon kuntani nga magpakigkita kay Jesus.” 22 Ginsugiran ni Felipe si Andres kag duha sila ang nagkadto kay Jesus agod sugiran siya. 23 Nagsiling dayon si Jesus sa ila, “Karon nag-abot na ang tion nga padunggan ako nga Anak sang Tawo, makita na ang akon gahom. 24 Sa pagkamatuod, ginasugid ko sa inyo nga kon ang isa ka binhi indi pag-ilubong sa duta kag mapatay, ina magapabilin gid lang nga isa ka binhi. Pero kon ilubong kag mapatay, magatubo ini kag magapamunga sing madamo.[h] 25 Ang tawo nga sobra ang iya paghigugma sa iya kabuhi madula niya ini, pero ang tawo nga wala nagakanugon sang iya kabuhi sa sini nga kalibutan tungod sa akon makaangkon sang kabuhi nga wala sing katapusan. 26 Ang bisan sin-o nga gusto mag-alagad sa akon kinahanglan magsunod sa akon, agod nga kon diin ako didto man ang akon suluguon. Ang tawo nga nagaalagad sa akon padunggan sang akon Amay.”

Naghambal si Jesus Parte sa iya Kamatayon

27 Nagsiling pa si Jesus, “Karon nagalibog ang akon hunahuna. Ano bala ang akon isiling? Ano, masiling bala ako sa Amay nga indi na lang niya ako pagpaantuson? Pero amo ini ang katuyuan sang akon pagkadto diri, nga mag-antos sang mga kasakit sa sini nga tion.” 28 Nagsiling dayon si Jesus sa Amay, “Amay, ipakita ang imo gahom sa mga tawo.” May naghambal dayon halin sa langit, “Ginpakita ko na paagi sa imo, kag ipakita ko pa liwat.”

29 Ang mga tawo nga nagtalambong didto nakabati sang tingog. Nagsiling sila, “Nagapangdaguob!” Pero nagsiling ang iban, “Nagapakighambal sa iya ang anghel!” 30 Pero nagsiling si Jesus sa ila, “Ginpabati ato sang Dios indi para sa akon kundi para sa inyo. 31 Halin subong sentensyahan na niya ang mga tawo sang kalibutan. Kag mapierdi na niya si Satanas nga amo ang nagagahom sa sini nga kalibutan. 32 Kag kon ibayaw na gani ako halin sa duta, papalapiton ko ang tanan nga tawo sa akon.” 33 (Sa iya paghambal sadto, ginsugid niya kon ano nga klase sang kamatayon ang iya pagaantuson.) 34 Nagsabat ang mga tawo sa iya, “Suno sa amon Kasuguan magakabuhi ang Cristo sa wala sing katapusan. Gani ngaa bala nagasiling ka nga ang Anak sang Tawo kinahanglan nga mapatay? Sin-o gid ina nga Anak sang Tawo ang imo ginasiling?” 35 Nagsiling si Jesus sa ila, “Madali na lang madula ang suga sa tunga ninyo. Gani magkabuhi kamo sa sini nga suga samtang diri pa, kay basi bala kon maabtan kamo sang kadulom. Tungod kay ang nagalakat sa kadulom indi makahibalo kon diin siya nagapadulong. 36 Gani magtuo kamo sa akon nga amo ang suga samtang diri pa ako sa inyo, agod masanagan ang inyo hunahuna.”[i]

Indi Magpati ang mga Judio kay Jesus

Pagkatapos niya hambal sadto naglakat siya kag nagpanago sa ila. 37 Bisan nakita na gid nila ang madamo nga mga milagro nga ginpanghimo ni Jesus, wala pa gihapon sila nagtuo sa iya. 38 Gani napamatud-an ang ginsiling ni Propeta Isaias,

“Ginoo, sin-o bala ang nagpati sa amon mensahi?
Sin-o bala sa mga ginpakitaan mo sang imo gahom ang nagtuo?”[j]

39-40 Nagsiling pa gid si Isaias,

“Ginbulag sila sang Dios agod indi sila makakita, kag gintakpan niya ang ila mga hunahuna agod indi sila makaintiendi,
kay basi pa kon magbalik sila sa Dios kag ayuhon niya sila.”[k]

Gani amo ina ang kabangdanan kon ngaa wala sila nagtuo kay Jesus. 41 Ginhambal ato ni Isaias tungod kay nakita niya ang gahom ni Jesus kag nagsugid siya parte sa iya.

42 Pero bisan amo sina, madamo nga mga lider sang mga Judio ang nagtuo kay Jesus. Pero wala lang sila nagpabutyag sang ila pagtuo tungod kay nahadlok sila nga indi na sila pagpasudlon sang mga Pariseo sa mga simbahan sang mga Judio. 43 Kay ginpasulabi nila ang pagdayaw sang mga tawo sang sa pagdayaw sang Dios.

Ang Pulong ni Jesus amo ang Magasentensya sa mga Tawo

44 Naghambal sing mabaskog si Jesus, “Kon ang tawo magtuo sa akon, indi lang siya nagatuo sa akon kundi nagatuo man siya sa nagpadala sa akon. 45 Ang nakakita sa akon nakakita man sa nagpadala sa akon. 46 Nagkadto ako diri sa kalibutan sa pagpasanag sa hunahuna sang mga tawo, agod nga ang bisan sin-o nga magatuo sa akon indi magapabilin sa kadulom. 47 Kon may ara nga nakabati sang akon mga pagpanudlo pero wala nagatuman, indi ako ang magasentensya sa iya nga silutan. Kay wala ako nagkadto diri sa kalibutan agod sentensyahan ang mga tawo kundi para luwason. 48 May ara nga magasentensya sa mga tawo nga nagasikway sa akon kag wala nagabaton sa akon mga pagpanudlo; ang mga pulong nga akon gintudlo amo ang magasentensya sa ila sa katapusan nga adlaw! 49 Kay ang akon mga pagpanudlo indi halin sa akon kundi halin sa Amay nga nagpadala sa akon. Siya amo ang nagsugo sa akon kon ano ang akon itudlo. 50 Kag nahibaluan ko nga ang iya mga pagpanudlo, nga iya ginsiling sa akon nga ipanudlo, nagahatag sang kabuhi nga wala sing katapusan. Gani ginasugid ko sa inyo ang tanan nga iya ginapasugid.”

Jesus Anointed at Bethany(A)

12 Six days before the Passover,(B) Jesus came to Bethany,(C) where Lazarus lived, whom Jesus had raised from the dead. Here a dinner was given in Jesus’ honor. Martha served,(D) while Lazarus was among those reclining at the table with him. Then Mary took about a pint[a] of pure nard, an expensive perfume;(E) she poured it on Jesus’ feet and wiped his feet with her hair.(F) And the house was filled with the fragrance of the perfume.

But one of his disciples, Judas Iscariot, who was later to betray him,(G) objected, “Why wasn’t this perfume sold and the money given to the poor? It was worth a year’s wages.[b] He did not say this because he cared about the poor but because he was a thief; as keeper of the money bag,(H) he used to help himself to what was put into it.

“Leave her alone,” Jesus replied. “It was intended that she should save this perfume for the day of my burial.(I) You will always have the poor among you,[c](J) but you will not always have me.”

Meanwhile a large crowd of Jews found out that Jesus was there and came, not only because of him but also to see Lazarus, whom he had raised from the dead.(K) 10 So the chief priests made plans to kill Lazarus as well, 11 for on account of him(L) many of the Jews were going over to Jesus and believing in him.(M)

Jesus Comes to Jerusalem as King(N)

12 The next day the great crowd that had come for the festival heard that Jesus was on his way to Jerusalem. 13 They took palm branches(O) and went out to meet him, shouting,

“Hosanna![d]

“Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!”[e](P)

“Blessed is the king of Israel!”(Q)

14 Jesus found a young donkey and sat on it, as it is written:

15 “Do not be afraid, Daughter Zion;
    see, your king is coming,
    seated on a donkey’s colt.”[f](R)

16 At first his disciples did not understand all this.(S) Only after Jesus was glorified(T) did they realize that these things had been written about him and that these things had been done to him.

17 Now the crowd that was with him(U) when he called Lazarus from the tomb and raised him from the dead continued to spread the word. 18 Many people, because they had heard that he had performed this sign,(V) went out to meet him. 19 So the Pharisees said to one another, “See, this is getting us nowhere. Look how the whole world has gone after him!”(W)

Jesus Predicts His Death

20 Now there were some Greeks(X) among those who went up to worship at the festival. 21 They came to Philip, who was from Bethsaida(Y) in Galilee, with a request. “Sir,” they said, “we would like to see Jesus.” 22 Philip went to tell Andrew; Andrew and Philip in turn told Jesus.

23 Jesus replied, “The hour(Z) has come for the Son of Man to be glorified.(AA) 24 Very truly I tell you, unless a kernel of wheat falls to the ground and dies,(AB) it remains only a single seed. But if it dies, it produces many seeds. 25 Anyone who loves their life will lose it, while anyone who hates their life in this world will keep it(AC) for eternal life.(AD) 26 Whoever serves me must follow me; and where I am, my servant also will be.(AE) My Father will honor the one who serves me.

27 “Now my soul is troubled,(AF) and what shall I say? ‘Father,(AG) save me from this hour’?(AH) No, it was for this very reason I came to this hour. 28 Father, glorify your name!”

Then a voice came from heaven,(AI) “I have glorified it, and will glorify it again.” 29 The crowd that was there and heard it said it had thundered; others said an angel had spoken to him.

30 Jesus said, “This voice was for your benefit,(AJ) not mine. 31 Now is the time for judgment on this world;(AK) now the prince of this world(AL) will be driven out. 32 And I, when I am lifted up[g] from the earth,(AM) will draw all people to myself.”(AN) 33 He said this to show the kind of death he was going to die.(AO)

34 The crowd spoke up, “We have heard from the Law(AP) that the Messiah will remain forever,(AQ) so how can you say, ‘The Son of Man(AR) must be lifted up’?(AS) Who is this ‘Son of Man’?”

35 Then Jesus told them, “You are going to have the light(AT) just a little while longer. Walk while you have the light,(AU) before darkness overtakes you.(AV) Whoever walks in the dark does not know where they are going. 36 Believe in the light while you have the light, so that you may become children of light.”(AW) When he had finished speaking, Jesus left and hid himself from them.(AX)

Belief and Unbelief Among the Jews

37 Even after Jesus had performed so many signs(AY) in their presence, they still would not believe in him. 38 This was to fulfill the word of Isaiah the prophet:

“Lord, who has believed our message
    and to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed?”[h](AZ)

39 For this reason they could not believe, because, as Isaiah says elsewhere:

40 “He has blinded their eyes
    and hardened their hearts,
so they can neither see with their eyes,
    nor understand with their hearts,
    nor turn—and I would heal them.”[i](BA)

41 Isaiah said this because he saw Jesus’ glory(BB) and spoke about him.(BC)

42 Yet at the same time many even among the leaders believed in him.(BD) But because of the Pharisees(BE) they would not openly acknowledge their faith for fear they would be put out of the synagogue;(BF) 43 for they loved human praise(BG) more than praise from God.(BH)

44 Then Jesus cried out, “Whoever believes in me does not believe in me only, but in the one who sent me.(BI) 45 The one who looks at me is seeing the one who sent me.(BJ) 46 I have come into the world as a light,(BK) so that no one who believes in me should stay in darkness.

47 “If anyone hears my words but does not keep them, I do not judge that person. For I did not come to judge the world, but to save the world.(BL) 48 There is a judge for the one who rejects me and does not accept my words; the very words I have spoken will condemn them(BM) at the last day. 49 For I did not speak on my own, but the Father who sent me commanded me(BN) to say all that I have spoken. 50 I know that his command leads to eternal life.(BO) So whatever I say is just what the Father has told me to say.”(BP)

12 Then Jesus six days before the passover came to Bethany, where Lazarus was, which had been dead, whom he raised from the dead.

There they made him a supper; and Martha served: but Lazarus was one of them that sat at the table with him.

Then took Mary a pound of ointment of spikenard, very costly, and anointed the feet of Jesus, and wiped his feet with her hair: and the house was filled with the odour of the ointment.

Then saith one of his disciples, Judas Iscariot, Simon's son, which should betray him,

Why was not this ointment sold for three hundred pence, and given to the poor?

This he said, not that he cared for the poor; but because he was a thief, and had the bag, and bare what was put therein.

Then said Jesus, Let her alone: against the day of my burying hath she kept this.

For the poor always ye have with you; but me ye have not always.

Much people of the Jews therefore knew that he was there: and they came not for Jesus' sake only, but that they might see Lazarus also, whom he had raised from the dead.

10 But the chief priests consulted that they might put Lazarus also to death;

11 Because that by reason of him many of the Jews went away, and believed on Jesus.

12 On the next day much people that were come to the feast, when they heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem,

13 Took branches of palm trees, and went forth to meet him, and cried, Hosanna: Blessed is the King of Israel that cometh in the name of the Lord.

14 And Jesus, when he had found a young ass, sat thereon; as it is written,

15 Fear not, daughter of Sion: behold, thy King cometh, sitting on an ass's colt.

16 These things understood not his disciples at the first: but when Jesus was glorified, then remembered they that these things were written of him, and that they had done these things unto him.

17 The people therefore that was with him when he called Lazarus out of his grave, and raised him from the dead, bare record.

18 For this cause the people also met him, for that they heard that he had done this miracle.

19 The Pharisees therefore said among themselves, Perceive ye how ye prevail nothing? behold, the world is gone after him.

20 And there were certain Greeks among them that came up to worship at the feast:

21 The same came therefore to Philip, which was of Bethsaida of Galilee, and desired him, saying, Sir, we would see Jesus.

22 Philip cometh and telleth Andrew: and again Andrew and Philip tell Jesus.

23 And Jesus answered them, saying, The hour is come, that the Son of man should be glorified.

24 Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone: but if it die, it bringeth forth much fruit.

25 He that loveth his life shall lose it; and he that hateth his life in this world shall keep it unto life eternal.

26 If any man serve me, let him follow me; and where I am, there shall also my servant be: if any man serve me, him will my Father honour.

27 Now is my soul troubled; and what shall I say? Father, save me from this hour: but for this cause came I unto this hour.

28 Father, glorify thy name. Then came there a voice from heaven, saying, I have both glorified it, and will glorify it again.

29 The people therefore, that stood by, and heard it, said that it thundered: others said, An angel spake to him.

30 Jesus answered and said, This voice came not because of me, but for your sakes.

31 Now is the judgment of this world: now shall the prince of this world be cast out.

32 And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me.

33 This he said, signifying what death he should die.

34 The people answered him, We have heard out of the law that Christ abideth for ever: and how sayest thou, The Son of man must be lifted up? who is this Son of man?

35 Then Jesus said unto them, Yet a little while is the light with you. Walk while ye have the light, lest darkness come upon you: for he that walketh in darkness knoweth not whither he goeth.

36 While ye have light, believe in the light, that ye may be the children of light. These things spake Jesus, and departed, and did hide himself from them.

37 But though he had done so many miracles before them, yet they believed not on him:

38 That the saying of Esaias the prophet might be fulfilled, which he spake, Lord, who hath believed our report? and to whom hath the arm of the Lord been revealed?

39 Therefore they could not believe, because that Esaias said again,

40 He hath blinded their eyes, and hardened their heart; that they should not see with their eyes, nor understand with their heart, and be converted, and I should heal them.

41 These things said Esaias, when he saw his glory, and spake of him.

42 Nevertheless among the chief rulers also many believed on him; but because of the Pharisees they did not confess him, lest they should be put out of the synagogue:

43 For they loved the praise of men more than the praise of God.

44 Jesus cried and said, He that believeth on me, believeth not on me, but on him that sent me.

45 And he that seeth me seeth him that sent me.

46 I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on me should not abide in darkness.

47 And if any man hear my words, and believe not, I judge him not: for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world.

48 He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day.

49 For I have not spoken of myself; but the Father which sent me, he gave me a commandment, what I should say, and what I should speak.

50 And I know that his commandment is life everlasting: whatsoever I speak therefore, even as the Father said unto me, so I speak.
