The Land of Dan

^40 (A)The seventh lot came out for the tribe of the children of Dan according to their families. ⁴¹ And the territory of their inheritance was Zorah, ^(B)Eshtaol, Ir Shemesh, ^42 (C)Shaalabbin, ^(D)Aijalon, Jethlah, ⁴³ Elon, Timnah, ^(E)Ekron, ⁴⁴ Eltekeh, Gibbethon, Baalath, ⁴⁵ Jehud, Bene Berak, Gath Rimmon, ⁴⁶ Me Jarkon, and Rakkon, with the region ^[a]near ^[b]Joppa. ⁴⁷ And the ^(F)border of the children of Dan went beyond these, because the children of Dan went up to fight against Leshem and took it; and they struck it with the edge of the sword, took possession of it, and dwelt in it. They called Leshem, ^(G)Dan, after the name of Dan their father. ⁴⁸ This is the inheritance of the tribe of the children of Dan according to their families, these cities with their villages.

³⁴ And the Amorites forced the children of Dan into the mountains, for they would not allow them to come down to the valley; ³⁵ and the Amorites were determined to dwell in Mount Heres, ^(A)in Aijalon, and in ^[a]Shaalbim; yet when the strength of the house of Joseph became greater, they ^[b]were put under tribute.

³⁶ Now the boundary of the Amorites was ^(B)from the Ascent of Akrabbim, from Sela, and upward.
