25 However, (A)Rahab the harlot and her father’s household and all she had, Joshua preserved alive; and she has lived in the midst of Israel to this day, for (B)she hid the messengers whom Joshua sent to spy out Jericho.

26 Then Joshua made them swear an oath at that time, saying, “(C)Cursed before Yahweh is the man who rises up and builds this city Jericho; with the loss of his firstborn he shall lay its foundation, and with the loss of his youngest son he shall set up its gates.” 27 So (D)Yahweh was with Joshua, and the (E)report about him was in all the land.

25 But Joshua spared(A) Rahab the prostitute,(B) with her family and all who belonged to her, because she hid the men Joshua had sent as spies to Jericho(C)—and she lives among the Israelites to this day.

26 At that time Joshua pronounced this solemn oath:(D) “Cursed(E) before the Lord is the one who undertakes to rebuild this city, Jericho:

“At the cost of his firstborn son
    he will lay its foundations;
at the cost of his youngest
    he will set up its gates.”(F)

27 So the Lord was with Joshua,(G) and his fame spread(H) throughout the land.
