15 And they came to the people of Reuben, the people of Gad, and the half-tribe of Manasseh, in the land of Gilead, and they said to them, 16 “Thus says the whole congregation of the Lord, ‘What is this breach of faith that you have committed against the God of Israel in turning away this day from following the Lord by building yourselves an altar this day (A)in rebellion against the Lord? 17 Have we not had enough of (B)the sin at Peor from which even yet we have not cleansed ourselves, and for which there came a plague upon the congregation of the Lord,

15 When they went to Gilead—to Reuben, Gad and the half-tribe of Manasseh—they said to them: 16 “The whole assembly of the Lord says: ‘How could you break faith(A) with the God of Israel like this? How could you turn away from the Lord and build yourselves an altar in rebellion(B) against him now? 17 Was not the sin of Peor(C) enough for us? Up to this very day we have not cleansed ourselves from that sin, even though a plague fell on the community of the Lord!
