Joshua 11:19-21
Contemporary English Version
19-20 (A) The Lord had told Moses that he wanted the towns in this region destroyed and their people killed without mercy. That's why the Lord made the people in the towns stubborn and determined to fight Israel. The only town that signed a peace treaty with Israel was the Hivite town of Gibeon. The Israelite army captured the rest of the towns in battle.
21 During this same time, Joshua and his army killed the Anakim[a] from the northern and southern hill country. They also destroyed the towns where the Anakim had lived, including Hebron, Debir, and Anab.

Joshua 11:19-21
New International Version
19 Except for the Hivites(A) living in Gibeon,(B) not one city made a treaty of peace(C) with the Israelites, who took them all in battle. 20 For it was the Lord himself who hardened their hearts(D) to wage war against Israel, so that he might destroy them totally, exterminating them without mercy, as the Lord had commanded Moses.(E)
21 At that time Joshua went and destroyed the Anakites(F) from the hill country: from Hebron, Debir(G) and Anab,(H) from all the hill country of Judah, and from all the hill country of Israel. Joshua totally destroyed them and their towns.
