3 But Jonah rose up to [a]flee into Tarshish, from the presence of the Lord, and went down to [b]Japho: and he found a ship going to Tarshish: so he paid the fare thereof, and went down into it, that he might go with them unto Tarshish, from the [c]presence of the Lord.

New International Version
3 But Jonah ran(A) away from the Lord and headed for Tarshish(B). He went down to Joppa,(C) where he found a ship bound for that port. After paying the fare, he went aboard and sailed for Tarshish to flee from the Lord.(D)
