Jonah 2:6-8
International Standard Version
6 I sank to the roots of the mountains;
the earth’s prison[a] bars closed[b] around me forever.
Yet you resurrect the dead[c] from the Pit,[d] Lord my God!
7 “As my life was fading away,
I remembered the Lord;
and my prayer came to you in your holy Temple.
8 Those who cling to vain idols
leave behind the gracious love that could have been theirs.[e]

6 To the roots of the mountains(A) I sank down;
the earth beneath barred me in forever.
But you, Lord my God,
brought my life up from the pit.(B)
7 “When my life was ebbing away,
I remembered(C) you, Lord,
and my prayer(D) rose to you,

turn away from God’s love for them.
