6 The captain of the ship went to him and asked, “How can you sleep? Get up, and pray to your El. Maybe he will notice us, and we won’t die.”
7 Then the sailors said to each other, “Let’s throw dice to find out who is responsible for bringing this disaster on us.” So they threw dice, and the dice indicated that Jonah was responsible.
8 They asked him, “Tell us, why has this disaster happened to us? What do you do for a living? Where do you come from? What country are you from? What nationality are you?”

New International Version
6 The captain went to him and said, “How can you sleep? Get up and call(A) on your god! Maybe he will take notice of us so that we will not perish.”(B)
7 Then the sailors said to each other, “Come, let us cast lots to find out who is responsible for this calamity.”(C) They cast lots and the lot fell on Jonah.(D) 8 So they asked him, “Tell us, who is responsible for making all this trouble for us? What kind of work do you do? Where do you come from? What is your country? From what people are you?”
