⁷ If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask for whatever you want and it will be done for you.^(A)

¹⁶ It was not you who chose me, but I who chose you and appointed you to go and bear fruit that will remain, so that whatever you ask the Father in my name he may give you.^(A)

²³ On that day you will not question me about anything. Amen, amen, I say to you, whatever you ask the Father in my name he will give you.^{(A) 24} Until now you have not asked anything in my name; ask and you will receive, so that your joy may be complete.

The Answer to Prayers. ^7 (A)“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.^{(B) 8} For everyone who asks, receives; and the one who seeks, finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.^{(C) 9} Which one of you would hand his son a stone when he asks for a loaf of bread,^{[a] 10} or a snake when he asks for a fish? ¹¹ If you then, who are wicked, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give good things to those who ask him.^(D)
