John 6:5-7
New English Translation
5 Then Jesus, when he looked up[a] and saw that a large crowd was coming to him, said to Philip, “Where can we buy bread so that these people may eat?” 6 (Now Jesus[b] said this to test him, for he knew what he was going to do.)[c] 7 Philip replied,[d] “200 silver coins worth[e] of bread would not be enough for them, for each one to get a little.”

New International Version
5 When Jesus looked up and saw a great crowd coming toward him, he said to Philip,(A) “Where shall we buy bread for these people to eat?” 6 He asked this only to test him, for he already had in mind what he was going to do.
7 Philip answered him, “It would take more than half a year’s wages[a] to buy enough bread for each one to have a bite!”
