John 3:25-27
International Standard Version
25 Then a controversy about ritual purification sprang up between a certain Jew[a] and John’s disciples, 26 so they went to John and told him, “Rabbi,[b] the man who was with you on the other side[c] of the Jordan, the one about whom you testified—look, he’s baptizing, and everyone is going to him!”
27 John replied, “No one can receive anything unless it has been given to them from heaven.

25 An argument developed between some of John’s disciples and a certain Jew over the matter of ceremonial washing.(A) 26 They came to John and said to him, “Rabbi,(B) that man who was with you on the other side of the Jordan—the one you testified(C) about—look, he is baptizing, and everyone is going to him.”
27 To this John replied, “A person can receive only what is given them from heaven.
