17 For God did not send His Son into the world to say it is guilty. He sent His Son so the world might be saved from the punishment of sin by Him. 18 Whoever puts his trust in His Son is not guilty. Whoever does not put his trust in Him is guilty already. It is because he does not put his trust in the name of the only Son of God.
19 “The Light has come into the world. And the Light is the test by which men are guilty or not. People love darkness more than the Light because the things they do are sinful.

17 For God did not send his Son into the world(A) to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.(B) 18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned,(C) but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son.(D) 19 This is the verdict: Light(E) has come into the world, but people loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil.(F)
