Nicodemus Visits Jesus

3 Now there was a Pharisee named Nicodemus, a leader of the Jews.

⁵⁰ Nicodemus, who had gone to Jesus^[a] before and who was one of them, asked,

⁷ That disciple whom Jesus loved said to Peter, “It is the Lord!” When Simon Peter heard that it was the Lord, he put on his outer garment, for he had taken it off, and jumped into the sea.^(A)

Jesus and the Beloved Disciple

²⁰ Peter turned and saw the disciple whom Jesus loved following them; he was the one who had reclined next to Jesus at the supper and had said, “Lord, who is it that is going to betray you?”^(A)

²⁴ This is the disciple who is testifying to these things and has written them, and we know that his testimony is true.^(A)
