John 12:14-16

¹⁴Jesus found a donkey and rode on it, just as the Scriptures say,

¹⁵^(A) “People of Jerusalem,
don't be afraid!
Your King is now coming,
and he is riding
on a donkey.”

¹⁶At first, Jesus' disciples did not understand. But after he had been given his glory,^[a] they remembered all this. Everything had happened exactly as the Scriptures said it would.

¹⁴Jesus found a young donkey and sat on it, as it is written:

¹⁵“Do not be afraid, Daughter Zion;
see, your king is coming,
seated on a donkey’s colt.”^[a]^(A)

¹⁶At first his disciples did not understand all this.^(B) Only after Jesus was glorified^(C) did they realize that these things had been written about him and that these things had been done to him.
