¹⁴And Jesus, finding a young donkey, sat on it; just as it is written [in Scripture], ¹⁵“Do not fear, Daughter of Zion; Behold, Your King is coming, seated on a donkey’s colt.”^(A) ¹⁶His disciples did not understand [the meaning of] these things at first; but when Jesus was glorified and exalted, they remembered that these things had been written about Him and had been done to Him.

¹⁴Jesus found a young donkey and sat on it, as it is written:

¹⁵“Do not be afraid, Daughter Zion;
see, your king is coming,
seated on a donkey’s colt.”^[a]^(A)

¹⁶At first his disciples did not understand all this.^(B) Only after Jesus was glorified^(C) did they realize that these things had been written about him and that these things had been done to him.
