John 11:39-41

³⁹“Take away the stone,” said Jesus.

“But, Master,” said Martha, the dead man’s sister, “there’ll be a smell! It’s the fourth day already!”

⁴⁰“Didn’t I tell you,” said Jesus, “that if you believed you would see God’s glory?”

⁴¹So they took the stone away. Jesus lifted up his eyes.

“Thank you, Father,” he said, “for hearing me!

³⁹“Take away the stone,” he said.

“But, Lord,” said Martha, the sister of the dead man, “by this time there is a bad odor, for he has been there four days.”^(A)

⁴⁰Then Jesus said, “Did I not tell you that if you believe,^(B) you will see the glory of God?”^(C)

⁴¹So they took away the stone. Then Jesus looked up^(D) and said, “Father,^(E) I thank you that you have heard me.
