32 And John bare witness, saying, I have beheld the Spirit descending as a dove out of heaven; and it abode upon him. 33 And I knew him not: but he that sent me to baptize [a]in water, he said unto me, Upon whomsoever thou shalt see the Spirit descending, and abiding upon him, the same is he that baptizeth [b]in the Holy Spirit. 34 And I have seen, and have borne witness that this is the Son of God.

32 Then John gave this testimony: “I saw the Spirit come down from heaven as a dove and remain on him.(A) 33 And I myself did not know him, but the one who sent me to baptize with water(B) told me, ‘The man on whom you see the Spirit come down and remain is the one who will baptize with the Holy Spirit.’(C) 34 I have seen and I testify that this is God’s Chosen One.”[a](D)
