Ọlọ́run pe Jobu níjà

38 Nígbà náà ní Olúwa dá Jobu lóhùn láti inú ìjì àjàyíká wá, ó sì wí pé:

“Ta ni èyí tí ń fi ọ̀rọ̀ àìlóye
    láti fi ṣókùnkùn bo ìmọ̀ mi?
Di ẹ̀gbẹ́ ara rẹ ní àmùrè bí ọkùnrin nísinsin yìí,
    nítorí pé èmi yóò béèrè lọ́wọ́ rẹ
    kí o sì dá mi lóhùn.

“Níbo ni ìwọ wà nígbà tí mo fi ìpìlẹ̀ ayé sọlẹ̀?
    Wí bí ìwọ bá mòye.
Ta ni ó fi ìwọ̀n rẹ lélẹ̀, dájú bí ìwọ bá mọ̀ ọ́n?
    Tàbí ta ni ó ta okùn wíwọ̀n sórí rẹ?
Lórí ibo ni a gbé kan ìpìlẹ̀ rẹ̀ mọ́,
    tàbí ta ni ó fi òkúta igun rẹ̀ lélẹ̀,
Nígbà náà àwọn ìràwọ̀ òwúrọ̀ jùmọ̀ kọrin pọ̀,
    tí gbogbo àwọn ọmọ Ọlọ́run hó ìhó ayọ̀?

“Tàbí ta ni ó fi ìlẹ̀kùn sé omi Òkun mọ́,
    nígbà tí ó ya padà bí ẹni pé ó ti inú jáde wá,
Nígbà tí mo fi àwọsánmọ̀ ṣe aṣọ rẹ̀,
    tí mo sì fi òkùnkùn biribiri ṣe ọ̀já ìgbà inú rẹ̀,
10 Nígbà tí mo ti pàṣẹ ìpinnu mi fún un,
    tí mo sì ṣe bèbè àti ìlẹ̀kùn,
11 Tí mo sì wí pé níhìn-ín ni ìwọ ó dé, kí o má sì rékọjá,
    níhìn-ín sì ni ìgbéraga rẹ yóò gbé dúró mọ?

12 “Ìwọ pàṣẹ fún òwúrọ̀ láti ìgbà ọjọ́ rẹ̀ wá,
    ìwọ sì mú ìlà-oòrùn mọ ipò rẹ̀,
13 Kí ó lè di òpin ilẹ̀ ayé mú,
    ki a lè gbọ́n àwọn ènìyàn búburú kúrò nínú rẹ̀?
14 Kí ó yí padà bí amọ̀ fún èdìdì amọ̀,
    kí gbogbo rẹ̀ kí ó sì fi ara rẹ̀ hàn bí ẹni pé nínú aṣọ ìgúnwà.
15 A sì fa ìmọ́lẹ̀ wọn sẹ́yìn kúrò lọ́dọ̀ ènìyàn búburú,
    apá gíga ni a sì ṣẹ́.

16 “Ìwọ ha wọ inú ìsun Òkun lọ rí bí?
    Ìwọ sì rìn lórí ìsàlẹ̀ ibú ńlá?
17 A ha ṣílẹ̀kùn ikú sílẹ̀ fún ọ rí bí,
    ìwọ sì rí ìlẹ̀kùn òjìji òkú?
18 Ìwọ mòye ìbú ayé bí?
    Sọ bí ìwọ bá mọ gbogbo èyí.

19 “Ọ̀nà wo ni ìmọ́lẹ̀ ń gbé?
    Bí ó ṣe ti òkùnkùn, níbo ni ipò rẹ̀,
20 Tí ìwọ í fi mú un lọ sí ibi àlá rẹ̀,
    tí ìwọ ó sì le mọ ipa ọ̀nà lọ sínú ilé rẹ̀?
21 Ìwọ mọ èyí, nítorí nígbà náà ni a bí ọ?
    Iye ọjọ́ rẹ sì pọ̀.

22 “Ìwọ ha wọ inú ìṣúra ìdì òjò lọ rí bí,
    ìwọ sì rí ilé ìṣúra yìnyín rí,
23 Tí mo ti fi pamọ́ de ìgbà ìyọnu,
    dé ọjọ́ ogun àti ìjà?
24 Ọ̀nà wo ni ó lọ sí ibi tí ìmọ́lẹ̀ fi ń la,
    tí afẹ́fẹ́ ìlà-oòrùn ń tàn káàkiri lórí ilẹ̀ ayé?
25 Ta ni ó la ipadò fún ẹ̀kún omi,
    àti ọ̀nà fún mọ̀nàmọ́ná àrá,
26 láti mú u rọ̀jò sórí ayé níbi tí ènìyàn kò sí,
    ní aginjù níbi tí ènìyàn kò sí;
27 láti mú ilẹ̀ tútù, ijù àti aláìro
    láti mú àṣẹ̀ṣẹ̀yọ ewéko rú jáde?
28 Òjò ha ní baba bí?
    Tàbí ta ni o bí ìkún ìṣe ìrì?
29 Láti inú ta ni ìdì omi ti jáde wá?
    Ta ni ó bí ìrì dídì ọ̀run?
30 Nígbà tí omi di líle bí òkúta,
    nígbà tí ojú ibú ńlá sì dìpọ̀.

31 “Ìwọ ha le fi ọ̀já de àwọn ìràwọ̀ Pleiadesi dáradára?
    Tàbí ìwọ le tún di Ìràwọ̀ Orioni?
32 Ìwọ le mú àwọn ààmì méjìlá ìràwọ̀ Masaroti jáde wá nígbà àkókò wọn?
    Tàbí ìwọ le ṣe amọ̀nà Beari pẹ̀lú àwọn ọmọ rẹ̀?
33 Ǹjẹ́ ìwọ mọ ìlànà ọ̀run?
    Ìwọ le fi ìjọba Ọlọ́run lélẹ̀ lórí ayé?

34 “Ìwọ le gbé ohùn rẹ sókè dé àwọsánmọ̀
    kí ọ̀pọ̀lọpọ̀ omi kí ó lè bò ọ́?
35 Ìwọ le rán mọ̀nàmọ́ná kí wọn kí ó le lọ,
    ní ọ̀nà wọn kí wọn kí ó sì wí fún wọn pé, ‘àwa nìyí’?
36 Ta ni ó fi ọgbọ́n pamọ́ sí odò ikùn
    tàbí tí ó fi òye sínú àyà?
37 Ta ni ó fi ọgbọ́n ka iye àwọsánmọ̀?
    Ta ni ó sì mú ìgò ọ̀run dà jáde,
38 Nígbà tí erùpẹ̀ di líle,
    àti ògúlùtu dìpọ̀?

39 “Ìwọ ha dẹ ọdẹ fún abo kìnnìún bí?
    Ìwọ ó sì tẹ ebi ẹgbọrọ kìnnìún lọ́rùn,
40 Nígbà tí wọ́n bá mọ́lẹ̀ nínú ihò
    tí wọ́n sì ba ní ibùba de ohun ọdẹ?
41 Ta ni ó ń pèsè ohun jíjẹ fún ẹyẹ ìwò,
    nígbà tí àwọn ọmọ rẹ ń ké pe Ọlọ́run,
    tí wọ́n sì máa ń fò kiri nítorí àìní ohun jíjẹ?

The Lord Speaks

38 Then the Lord spoke to Job(A) out of the storm.(B) He said:

“Who is this that obscures my plans(C)
    with words without knowledge?(D)
Brace yourself like a man;
    I will question you,
    and you shall answer me.(E)

“Where were you when I laid the earth’s foundation?(F)
    Tell me, if you understand.(G)
Who marked off its dimensions?(H) Surely you know!
    Who stretched a measuring line(I) across it?
On what were its footings set,(J)
    or who laid its cornerstone(K)
while the morning stars(L) sang together(M)
    and all the angels[a](N) shouted for joy?(O)

“Who shut up the sea behind doors(P)
    when it burst forth from the womb,(Q)
when I made the clouds its garment
    and wrapped it in thick darkness,(R)
10 when I fixed limits for it(S)
    and set its doors and bars in place,(T)
11 when I said, ‘This far you may come and no farther;(U)
    here is where your proud waves halt’?(V)

12 “Have you ever given orders to the morning,(W)
    or shown the dawn its place,(X)
13 that it might take the earth by the edges
    and shake the wicked(Y) out of it?(Z)
14 The earth takes shape like clay under a seal;(AA)
    its features stand out like those of a garment.
15 The wicked are denied their light,(AB)
    and their upraised arm is broken.(AC)

16 “Have you journeyed to the springs of the sea
    or walked in the recesses of the deep?(AD)
17 Have the gates of death(AE) been shown to you?
    Have you seen the gates of the deepest darkness?(AF)
18 Have you comprehended the vast expanses of the earth?(AG)
    Tell me, if you know all this.(AH)

19 “What is the way to the abode of light?
    And where does darkness reside?(AI)
20 Can you take them to their places?
    Do you know the paths(AJ) to their dwellings?
21 Surely you know, for you were already born!(AK)
    You have lived so many years!

22 “Have you entered the storehouses of the snow(AL)
    or seen the storehouses(AM) of the hail,(AN)
23 which I reserve for times of trouble,(AO)
    for days of war and battle?(AP)
24 What is the way to the place where the lightning is dispersed,(AQ)
    or the place where the east winds(AR) are scattered over the earth?(AS)
25 Who cuts a channel for the torrents of rain,
    and a path for the thunderstorm,(AT)
26 to water(AU) a land where no one lives,
    an uninhabited desert,(AV)
27 to satisfy a desolate wasteland
    and make it sprout with grass?(AW)
28 Does the rain have a father?(AX)
    Who fathers the drops of dew?
29 From whose womb comes the ice?
    Who gives birth to the frost from the heavens(AY)
30 when the waters become hard as stone,
    when the surface of the deep is frozen?(AZ)

31 “Can you bind the chains[b] of the Pleiades?
    Can you loosen Orion’s belt?(BA)
32 Can you bring forth the constellations(BB) in their seasons[c]
    or lead out the Bear[d] with its cubs?(BC)
33 Do you know the laws(BD) of the heavens?(BE)
    Can you set up God’s[e] dominion over the earth?

34 “Can you raise your voice to the clouds
    and cover yourself with a flood of water?(BF)
35 Do you send the lightning bolts on their way?(BG)
    Do they report to you, ‘Here we are’?
36 Who gives the ibis wisdom[f](BH)
    or gives the rooster understanding?[g](BI)
37 Who has the wisdom to count the clouds?
    Who can tip over the water jars(BJ) of the heavens(BK)
38 when the dust becomes hard(BL)
    and the clods of earth stick together?(BM)

39 “Do you hunt the prey for the lioness
    and satisfy the hunger of the lions(BN)
40 when they crouch in their dens(BO)
    or lie in wait in a thicket?(BP)
41 Who provides food(BQ) for the raven(BR)
    when its young cry out to God
    and wander about for lack of food?(BS)
