¹⁷ ‘Can a mortal be more righteous than God?^(A)
    Can even a strong man be more pure than his Maker?^(B)

³ Do you fix your eye on them?^(A)
    Will you bring them^[a] before you for judgment?^(B)

³ If you, Lord, kept a record of sins,
    Lord, who could stand?^(A)

²⁰ Indeed, there is no one on earth who is righteous,^(A)
