¹⁴ Let them alone; ^(A)they are blind guides.^[a] And ^(B)if the blind lead the blind, both will fall into a pit.”

¹⁶ “Woe to ^(A)you, ^(B)blind guides, who say, ^(C)‘If anyone swears by the temple, it is nothing, but if anyone swears by the gold of the temple, he is bound by his oath.’

³⁹ Jesus said, ^(A)“For judgement I came into this world, ^(B)that those who do not see may see, and ^(C)those who see may become blind.” ⁴⁰ Some of the Pharisees near him heard these things, and said to him, ^(D)“Are we also blind?” ⁴¹ Jesus said to them, “If you were blind, ^(E)you would have no guilt;^[a] but now that you say, ‘We see’, your guilt remains.
