³ For twenty-three years—from the thirteenth year of Josiah^(A) son of Amon king of Judah until this very day—the word of the Lord has come to me and I have spoken to you again and again,^(B) but you have not listened.^(C)

¹³ While you were doing all these things, declares the Lord, I spoke^(A) to you again and again,^(B) but you did not listen;^(C) I called^(D) you, but you did not answer.^(E)

⁷ From the time I brought your ancestors up from Egypt until today, I warned them again and again,^(A) saying, “Obey me.” ⁸ But they did not listen or pay attention;^(B) instead, they followed the stubbornness of their evil hearts.^(C) So I brought on them all the curses^(D) of the covenant I had commanded them to follow but that they did not keep.^(E)’”

⁵ and if you do not listen to the words of my servants the prophets, whom I have sent to you again and again (though you have not listened^(A)),

³³ They turned their backs^(A) to me and not their faces; though I taught^(B) them again and again, they would not listen or respond to discipline.^(C)

¹⁴ ‘Jehonadab son of Rekab ordered his descendants not to drink wine and this command has been kept. To this day they do not drink wine, because they obey their forefather’s command.^(A) But I have spoken to you again and again,^(B) yet you have not obeyed^(C) me.

¹⁵ The Lord, the God of their ancestors, sent word to them through his messengers^(C) again and again,^(D) because he had pity on his people and on his dwelling place.
