³ This is what the Lord Almighty, the God of Israel, says: Reform your ways^(A) and your actions, and I will let you live^(B) in this place. ⁴ Do not trust^(C) in deceptive^(D) words and say, “This is the temple of the Lord, the temple of the Lord, the temple of the Lord!” ⁵ If you really change^(E) your ways and your actions and deal with each other justly,^{(F) 6} if you do not oppress^(G) the foreigner, the fatherless or the widow and do not shed innocent blood^(H) in this place, and if you do not follow other gods^(I) to your own harm, ⁷ then I will let you live in this place, in the land^(J) I gave your ancestors^(K) for ever and ever.

¹⁶ And if they learn^(A) well the ways of my people and swear by my name, saying, ‘As surely as the Lord lives’^(B)—even as they once taught my people to swear by Baal^(C)—then they will be established among my people.^(D)

²¹ “But if^(A) a wicked person turns away from all the sins they have committed and keeps all my decrees^(B) and does what is just and right, that person will surely live; they will not die.^(C)

¹¹ Say to them, ‘As surely as I live, declares the Sovereign Lord, I take no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but rather that they turn from their ways and live.^(A) Turn!^(B) Turn from your evil ways! Why will you die, people of Israel?’^(C)
