21 Therefore, thus says Yahweh,
“Behold, (A)I am [a]laying stumbling blocks before this people.
And they will stumble against them,
(B)Fathers and sons together;
Neighbor and [b]friend will perish.”
Mourn the Coming Destroyer
22 Thus says Yahweh,
“Behold, (C)a people is coming from the land of the north,
And a great nation will be aroused from the (D)remote parts of the earth.
23 They take hold of (E)bow and spear;
They are (F)cruel and have no compassion;
Their voice (G)roars like the sea,
And they ride on horses,
Arranged as a man for the battle
Against you, O daughter of Zion!”

“I will put obstacles before this people.
Parents and children alike will stumble(A) over them;
neighbors and friends will perish.”
22 This is what the Lord says:
“Look, an army is coming
from the land of the north;(B)
a great nation is being stirred up
from the ends of the earth.(C)
23 They are armed with bow and spear;
they are cruel and show no mercy.(D)
They sound like the roaring sea(E)
as they ride on their horses;(F)
they come like men in battle formation
to attack you, Daughter Zion.(G)”
