Then the city was broken into, and all the men of war fled, going out of the city by night by the way of the gate between the two walls, which was near the king’s garden—even though the Chaldeans were all around the city. They were heading along the way of the Arabah.

But the Chaldean army pursued the king and overtook Zedekiah in the desert plains of Jericho. Then all his army was scattered from him. Then they took the king and brought him up to the king of Babylon at Riblah in the land of Hamath. He passed judgment on him.

Then the city wall was broken through, and the whole army fled.(A) They left the city at night through the gate between the two walls near the king’s garden, though the Babylonians[a] were surrounding the city. They fled toward the Arabah,[b] but the Babylonian[c] army pursued King Zedekiah and overtook him in the plains of Jericho. All his soldiers were separated from him and scattered, and he was captured.(B)

He was taken to the king of Babylon at Riblah(C) in the land of Hamath,(D) where he pronounced sentence on him.
