The wall of[a] the city was broken through, and all the soldiers fled, leaving the city at night through the gate between the two walls next to the king’s garden, even though the Chaldeans were all around the city. They went in the direction of the Arabah.[b]

The Chaldean army went after the king, overtook Zedekiah in the plains of Jericho, and all his troops were scattered from him. They captured the king and brought him to the king of Babylon at Riblah in the land of Hamath, where the king of Babylon[c] passed judgment on him.

Then the city wall was broken through, and the whole army fled.(A) They left the city at night through the gate between the two walls near the king’s garden, though the Babylonians[a] were surrounding the city. They fled toward the Arabah,[b] but the Babylonian[c] army pursued King Zedekiah and overtook him in the plains of Jericho. All his soldiers were separated from him and scattered, and he was captured.(B)

He was taken to the king of Babylon at Riblah(C) in the land of Hamath,(D) where he pronounced sentence on him.
