23 (A)How the hammer of the whole earth
is cut down and broken!
(B)How Babylon (C)has become
a horror among the nations!
24 (D)I set a snare for you and you were taken, O Babylon,
and (E)you did not know it;
you were found and caught,
because you opposed the Lord.
25 The Lord has opened his armoury
and brought out (F)the weapons of his wrath,
for the Lord God of hosts has a work to do
in the land of the Chaldeans.

23 How broken and shattered

How desolate(C) is Babylon
among the nations!
24 I set a trap(D) for you, Babylon,
and you were caught before you knew it;
you were found and captured(E)
because you opposed(F) the Lord.
25 The Lord has opened his arsenal
and brought out the weapons(G) of his wrath,
for the Sovereign Lord Almighty has work to do
in the land of the Babylonians.(H)
