Jeremiah 5:27-29
The Voice
27 Like a cage full of noisy birds, their homes are filled with screeching lies.
This is how they have become so rich and important—because others fell for their lies.
28 This is how they have grown so fat and polished.
Their evil deeds know no boundaries.
They do not take the side of the orphaned to help them prosper.
They do not seek justice for the poor;
29 Should I not punish them for these atrocities?
Against a nation like this, should I not avenge Myself?
Jeremiah 5:27-29
New International Version
27 Like cages full of birds,
their houses are full of deceit;(A)
they have become rich(B) and powerful
28 and have grown fat(C) and sleek.
Their evil deeds have no limit;
they do not seek justice.
They do not promote the case of the fatherless;(D)
they do not defend the just cause of the poor.(E)
29 Should I not punish them for this?”
declares the Lord.
“Should I not avenge(F) myself
on such a nation as this?
