27 Just as a hunter fills a cage with birds, they have filled their houses with loot. That is why they are powerful and rich, 28 why they are fat and well fed. There is no limit to their evil deeds. They do not give orphans their rights or show justice to the oppressed.

27 Like cages full of birds,
    their houses are full of deceit;(A)
they have become rich(B) and powerful
28     and have grown fat(C) and sleek.
Their evil deeds have no limit;
    they do not seek justice.
They do not promote the case of the fatherless;(D)
    they do not defend the just cause of the poor.(E)
29 Should I not punish them for this?”
    declares the Lord.
“Should I not avenge(F) myself
    on such a nation as this?
