6 Yet afterward[a] I will restore
    the fortunes[b] of the Ammonites,”[c] declares[d] Yahweh.

A Message Concerning Edom

7 Concerning Edom, thus says Yahweh of hosts:

“Is there no longer wisdom in Teman?
    Has counsel become lost from those who understand?
    Is their wisdom rotting?
8 Flee! Turn back! Get down low![e]
    O inhabitants of Dedan.
For I will bring upon him the disaster of Esau
    at the time when I will punish him.

    Has counsel perished from the prudent?
    Has their wisdom decayed?
8 Turn and flee, hide in deep caves,(F)
    you who live in Dedan,(G)
for I will bring disaster on Esau
    at the time when I punish him.
