I kept sending you my servants the prophets, who told you not to do this terrible thing that I hate. But you would not listen or pay any attention. You would not give up your evil practice of sacrificing to other gods. So I poured out my anger and fury on the towns of Judah and on the streets of Jerusalem, and I set them on fire. They were left in ruins and became a horrifying sight, as they are today.

Again and again(A) I sent my servants the prophets,(B) who said, ‘Do not do this detestable(C) thing that I hate!’ But they did not listen or pay attention;(D) they did not turn from their wickedness(E) or stop burning incense(F) to other gods.(G) Therefore, my fierce anger was poured out;(H) it raged against the towns of Judah and the streets of Jerusalem and made them the desolate ruins(I) they are today.
